New Years Resolutions!

Hellooo 2013!

We survived! I've been working my turkey dinners off (just kidding I was working so much I never actually got a turkey dinner) which is why I've been 100% MIA for the last month. But hey, this is my blog I DO WHAT I WANT. Just kidding I'm sorry I love you.

click for a larger photo!

My NYE consisted of work until 11:45, making myself 10 minute pretty, and getting absolutely hammered with a former CFL player. I had a way better time than I expected and I seriously love all of my co-workers, they're like a second family to me, living and working together has made us so close, especially in this past month!

The next day was basically a blur of work and coffee, but I did manage to jot down my resolutions for the upcoming year!

So these are my Resolutions! In case you can't read them they are:

1. Take 1 photo/day! I have a lot of exciting plans for the future, and even an instagram photo would do. I want to remember everything about 2013!

2. Blog once/week (at least!) I was trying to set reasonable goals. I want be more consistent with you little blog!

3. Get out of the country! So many plans, so little time... We'll see what the future holds ;)

4. Keep doing project life (2 pages/week) I just finished my cover pages and have started working on my pages for this week and I'm already freakishly addicted to this project!!

5. Work on my fitness once/week! Again, reasonable goals. I'm actually really happy with my body right now, you can check out my fitness blog and see how I do with this goal!

6. Skype/call/email the family once/week! I love my family sooo much, but I am the worst at keeping in touch!! I hope that will follow through with this one, it's probably the most important of all!

7. Experiment more with fashion! Jeans and tshirts are getting boring. I've already started to branch out of my sweatpants bubble, but expect more OOTD posts in the near future!

8. Make the most out of 2013!! I want to live life to the fullest and take every opportunity that gets thrown my way!

I am super excited to be starting a New Year, and I have a super positive outlook on the next 12 months - and beyond!! I hope everyone had an amazing night, a hungover next day, and are looking forward to this coming year as much as I am!!

How To Get A Concussion!

Hello SeductiveMania readers!

Today I'm going to post a very informative tutorial on how to get a concussion.* Now, I'm sure you're sitting on the edge of your seats, just waiting for the step by step instructions... but let me just tell you that the fun will last a couple of days, or longer if you're prone to migraines like me yipee!

Step One: Pick a Shelf.

That's right folks, now it's important to find the right kind of shelf. It has to be a sturdy, well made shelf, preferably wooden. Another very important factor in selecting a shelf is that it should have a corner approximately forehead height. It will be extremely difficult to complete step number two with a shelf at an incorrect height.

Step Two: Put Something Important in Danger.

... on the other side of the shelf. Maybe dangle your favourite child or pet over a burning hot stove. Maybe just put on a pot with a sauce that's seconds to boiling over and in dire need of being turned down or you'll have an icky sticky mess all over the stove and no one is even close to the burner so you must turn it down or you'll have to clean it up. You know, something like that.

Step Three: Run Into Shelf.

Now you can interpret this step however you want, but for best results, literally run into the shelf. Choose your important object carefully for this reason. Imagine little Spike or your first born dangling precariously over a demon shark infested pond (with lasers) and aim carefully. You want to hit your forehead hard enough to throw you backwards, but after that play it cool. Expect to be extremely dizzy and in a lot of throbbing pain.

Step Four: Don't Tell Anyone.

To avoid awkward questions like "why did you run into a shelf" don't tell anyone about the extreme pain in your brain, especially if it lasts - or even gets worse over the next 4 days. The nausea, stomach aches, dizziness, and/or blurred vision are things you should probably not tell anyone about.

Step Five: Succumb to the Inevitable.

Congratulations! You've made it to our final step. While your head may feel like a million little demon creatures are trying to drill their way out of your brain, you have successfully had and made worse a concussion! Once you begin vomiting and crying from the pain in your head, someone will eventually notice and take you to a doctor. Bed rest, fluids, and extra strength Tylenol will now be your best friends!

Bonus Points:

Now I know some of you over achievers out there are thinking - that's good, but how do I make it worse?! My suggestion to you is once you're at the doctors office, stand up too fast for the sizeable injection in your rear end (one that is supposed to help your migraines, by the way) and once the needle has been injected, proceed to get all together too dizzy, and faint on the doctors office floor. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll come to soon enough on the floor pants around your knees suitable embarrassed. But you have achieved your goal - a second minor head trauma! You'll be out of work for a couple of days, but that pain which is now throbbing on both sides of your head is 100% worth it!

*Disclaimer - Please don't do this. Ever. It f%$#ing hurts. A lot. (Yes, this is really what happened... I know.)

Cooking With a Camera (And #5/19)

NasUbK on Make A Gif, Animated Gifs
MakeaGIF.com kills picture quality... anyone have any other gifmaking solutions?

I've been regularly blogging since January, and since then I have not had a camera. Not even an iPhone camera. All I have been able to use to take pictures is someone else's camera, or my webcam.... not anymore!

I am not a photographer, nor am I a professional blogger by any means, but I do love documenting the little things that go on around me, and finally I will be able to! This also crosses off number 5 on my 19 before 20 List! Success! It's a Cannon Elph, and I love it. It's only a point and shoot, but hey, buying a car was also on my to do list.

I've got to be honest here, I'm pretty sure the only reason I made breakfast this morning was because I wanted to use my new camera.

Yum, I just want to eat it all over again.

Eugh, ugly writing. Gonna take some time to get used to this whole tablet thing!
 Fisheye effect!
 Toy Camera Effect
And a cool shot of a whisk taken with the high speed burst mode.

The point of this post was pretty much just to try out my new camera... which was also pretty much the point of the eggs. BUT - some helpful words of advice from a breakfast cook:

When making an omelette, make SURE you,
  • Put a little bit of oil at the bottom of the pan. A little bit of oil. Maybe a tablespoon if you have a big pan, and please don't drown your eggs.
  • To make an actual omelette (unlike mine) be sure to have more eggs than stuff, the eggs are the glue keeping your stuff together, and without it you just have scrambled eggs
  • Salt and Pepper!!!!!! Don't forget these key ingredients in your veggies, and most certainly in your eggs.
  • To keep that circle shape, make sure you use a rubber spatula to carefully lift up the edges of the eggs. This will allow the eggs to run down below the already cooked eggs, giving you that excellent circle shape.
  • To give a little extra kick in your eggs, try whisking in a little bit of horseradish or grainy dijon mustard. MMmmmm good!

19 Before 20

First of all - It isn't my birthday. And it isn't my birthday for another 108 days... unfortunately !

Second of all - I love the idea of ## before ## lists, and ever since grade nine, some good friends and I always made "summer lists", "first semester lists", etc. It was so much fun being able to check off the silly things we did together, and take pictures of them along the way.

So, I've decided that with one-hundred-and-eight-days until my 20th birthday, I'm going to make myself a 19 before 20 list. Whatchu gonna do about it!

Becky's (Belated) 19 Before 20 List!
  1. Move into my own space
  2. Travel to somewhere I've never been before
  3. 30x30 Remix (reloaded? Major fail so far, I'm thinking JUNE)
  4. Buy a car
  5. Get a camera
  6. Make a blog calendar
  7. Complete the Insanity workout program
  8. Make Momma's surprise bday present!!
  9. Mothers Day DIY feature
  10. Start "Project Life" and documenting everything I do
  11. Figure out how to stay connected with my friends
  12. Make an inspiration board
  13. Do more volunteer work
  14. Make The CupCapers "prototypes" at least 10 times
  15. Do something drastic with my hair
  16. Spend tons of time in the sun
  17. Read more books and less blogs (or just more books!)
  18. Get my record player fixed so I can put on girlie dresses and spin around like the records
  19. Be around (on the blog, silly) to post a 20 before 21 list!

Not too fancy, just a bunch of things I was (hopefully) going to get done in the next 108 days anyways! Lookout world - I have 19 things to do and no one's gonna stop me!
